Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette Review + Swatches

I am a huge fan of Urban Decay eyeshadows. They provide great pigmentation and have a huge variety in shades, plus they have great staying power. For my 15th birthday my parents surprised me with this palette, a gift which I am so grateful for. For months now I have been trying to master the perfect smokey eye and I think this palette will be my key to success.

It's no word of a lie that the Urban Decay Naked palettes are expensive, they retail at the price of £38 and for many, that figure is enough to put you off purchasing one for a lifetime. However, there is a reason why they are such popular products...

Urban Decay have created nine new shades for this palette plus three exclusives from past products. There is a range differing from satins, mattes and shimmers which will easily help you create the perfect eye look. As always, the eyeshadows are great quality and blend perfectly onto the lid. They have amazing pigmentation and are super smooth. When wearing an eye primer, typically the NYX hd eyeshadow base, the shadows seem to last up to 10-12 hours which I think is exceptional and makes the £38 splurge worth it.

The packaging of this product is by far my favourite from UD. The case features a stylish floating smoke effect with the name 'Naked Smoky' in metal foil letters and the eyeshadow pans are set in a cool transparent base. And here is my favourite part, the case has a magnetic closure which immediately takes packaging rating up to a 10/10 for me! There is also a full-sized mirror on the inside lid making it great for travelling purposes. It is definitely the most classy and the most sophisticated palette from Urban Decay. I love it!

The palette also comes with an exclusive double-ended brush which makes applying the eyeshadows so much easier even though I have many other brushes that will do the trick just fine. On one end of the brush you have a Tapered Crease Brush that I like to use for blending out the shades in order to achieve the 'smoky' effect and on the other end you have a Smudger Brush which I also like to use to blend colours but in a more precise manner.

Above are swatches of each shade from left to right of the palette.

Let me know what your favourite Urban Decay palette is!

Keep smiling :)

JD Williams Summer Dress Wishlist

My family trip to Spain is quickly approaching and I'm steadily getting everything together, including many outfits to wear throughout the day whether I be visiting the beach, exploring the Spanish town or at night whilst having a meal or simply sitting by the pool.

JD Williams provide stylish, trend-aware fashion for women of all shapes and sizes and after looking through their range of summer dresses I couldn't help but pick out a few to share with you all. You can see all they have to offer on their website,  http://www.jdwilliams.co.uk/shop/womens/dresses/holiday-dresses/_/N-118rZ1ytvwxq/products/show.actionor in store.

1. Waterfall Bead Neck Maxi Dress - this dress screams elegance in every way possible. I love the cobalt blue colour and the V-shaped cut-out along the neckline. Styled with a pair of black sandals and a nude lipstick shade, this look would be perfect for a night out.

2. Lace-Up Back Column Maxi - this dress stood out to me for various reasons. The tropical colour scheme shouts out 'summer' and would look beautiful with a pair of gladiator sandals. It is such a versatile dress which enables you to wear it from day to night. I love it!

3. Beach To Bar Maxi Dress - again, this dress can take you from day to night - something JD Williams have done well with their Summer range. I love the colours and the print on the dress, it would look lovely with a clutch and a pair of wedged sandals.

4. Plain Linen Mix Dress - this dress is right up my street and is definitely something I would wear throughout the summer months and even in winter when styled with a leather jacket, woolly tights and a warm scarf. It is simple and stylish and would look great with a pair of sandals in higher temperatures and chelsea boots in cooler temperatures.

5. Lyocell Knee-Length Denim Dress - I'm not usually one to wear denim but I have been seeing many people wearing these dresses recently so I couldn't restrain myself from putting it into this wishlist. I love the way it flows and also the roll-up sleeve detailing. Pair it with a pair of gladiator sandals, or ankle boots and you're good to go!

6. Sleeveless Swing Dress - I. Love. Swing. Dresses. I couldn't help but add three into this wishlist because they're all so beautiful. Personally, swing dresses make up my favourite summer outfit and once again, can be worn in cooler months too. To finish off the look, pair the dress with gladiator sandals and black rimmed sunglasses and add a jacket or cardigan during the evening.

7. Moda in Pelle Parla Sandals - I fell in love with these shoes the moment I saw them. The high heeled platform will look great in the evenings and will help spice up any outfit. This pair of sandals would look perfect with dresses 4, 5 and 6 in my wishlist!

8. Blowfish Gladiator Sandals Standard D Fit - I really like wearing gladiator sandals, they are so comfortable and stylish and can be paired with almost any outfit. I especially love the design of this pair, they are definitely a summer must have!

9. Sole Diva Chelsea Boots Wide E Fit - chelsea boots are once again a must have for your shoe collection. I love the simplicity of these. They can be styled with anything whether it be a dress, skirt or a pair of jeans for a casual everyday look.

Let me know which item is your favourite!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm Review

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm Review

In the UK I have never come across a NYX cosmetics stand thus I have never really had to opportunity to try out many of their products. However, I recently found out that Boots.com have been stocking the brand and I couldn't help but place an order on a few things that caught my eye. After hearing many people speak positively about the NYX matte lip creams I quickly put a shade into my basket and it arrived within a couple of days. I have now had this product for around 3 months and have worn the lip cream numerous times so I have pretty strong opinion and thoughts on it.

www.absie.co.uk // Dr. Do Good In-Shower Body Moisturiser Spray Review

One thing I hate is moisturising, I find it so time consuming and nine times out of ten I'm just too lazy to do it. When Dr. Do Good gave me the opportunity to try out their in-shower moisturiser I quickly said yes, I'm up to sample anything that will make the whole moisturising process quicker!

Scarf Envy

This outfit was inspired by this unique, as well as sentimental scarf which was designed by the Felix Rey co-founders, Lily Rafii Band and Salaika Zarrouk. You might know Lily as wife of business consultant Doug Band. Luckily for him this scarf says Dear John and not Doug…

I love these pieces together because it can easily be dressed up or down for a day to night look! Plus who doesn’t love an all (almost) black outfit! Here’s where you can get these pieces:

Magnitone Vibra-Sonic Daily Cleansing Brush Review

The Daily Cleansing Vibra-Sonic face brush by Magnitone has been apart of my skin care routine for a while now so I've been so excited to write this post. I'm extremely lazy when it comes to washing my face, I can never be bothered and it's just the same routine each time so I was very happy when Magnitone announced they were going to send me this product, it would give me the opportunity to switch things round a little!

Books I've Read and Loved

image via tumblr.
I go through stages of being a total book worm and reading whenever I have the chance, to not reading a book whatsoever for weeks.  Nonetheless, throughout the past couple of years I have gone through quite a great selection of books, all of which are of different genres whether it be a romance, action or a thriller.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - £5.99
This product has been on the shelves for quite some time but I have only just gotten around to trying it out recently. I'm a big fan of Maybelline, I love their BB creams and foundations as they don't have a thick formula and look light and natural on the skin so I had high expectations when buying this product. I originally purchased this for school wear to replace my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer as I wanted something less heavy feeling on my skin. So far it has performed perfectly.

Slendertoxtea 14 Day Teatox Review (Day & Night)

Slendertoxtea Sleeptox and Daytox*
I love tea so when I got the opportunity to try out a 14 day pack of Slendertoxtea I jumped at the chance and accepted the offer.  For those who don't know, Slendertoxtea is a detox tea made from natural herbs and plants which help cleanse your colon, become less bloated and loose weight with the help of exercise.  This tea also helps improve your metabolism and your health - seems pretty cool, right?

The 14 Daytox tea contains ingredients of; green tea (leaf), mate (leaf), hawthorn (berry), tea (flower), fennel (seed), dandelion (leaf) and stinging nettle (leaf).  When I first read the last ingredient, stinging nettle, I was slightly weary about drinking it but after some research I found out that it has many benefits including being high in antioxidants, iron, vitamin C and more.

As for the 7 day SleepTox, it contains; valerian (root), senna (leaf), sacred lotus (leaf), hawthorn (berry), tea (flower), orange (fruit) and chinese rhubarb (root).  Slendertoxtea have added a larger amount of Hawthorn in the Sleeptox tea compared to the Daytox because it helps lower your blood pressure making it easier to sleep.  Valerian root also helps relax your muscles for sleep too!

Slenderteatox have been pretty smart with both ingredients lists so hats off to them!

I drink tea a lot and go through tea bag after tea bag so adding this into my routine wasn't going to be a huge problem.  My fitness routine mainly consists of running which I try and do every week day after school (when it's not -1 degrees that it), so this should help the teatox perform at its best leaving me impressed with the results. Fingers crossed!
When I tried the tea for the first time it didn't have a sickly taste making me feel ill like I had expected beforehand, in fact, I felt perfectly normal and refreshed.  I brewed the tea bag for about 2 minutes as I didn't want the flavor to be too strong.  I noticed the teatox was working when I had to take quick trips to the loo (tmi?) and also when I had subtle cramps the next morning, Slendertoxtea reassured me that this was normal and all part of the process for most people and was a thing called the laxative effect.  Other than that small issue, I love the tea and definitely recommend it to anyone looking into trying a detox tea!

This brand also provides a diet plan for the detox process and informs you on all the foods that will help give the detox a boost and get your moneys worth!  You can view it here; Slendertoxtea Eating Plan.

You can purchase these two products together here for £19.99 which roughly works out as 70p per teabag.

Do let me know if you've tried a detox tea, how did you get on?

Keep smiling:)

Doll White Teeth Whitening Strips Review

www.absie.co.uk: Doll White Teeth Whitening Strips Review
www.absie.co.uk: Doll White Teeth Whitening Strips Review
www.absie.co.uk: Doll White Teeth Whitening Strips Review
Doll White Teeth Whitening Strips*
Having tried numerous teeth whitening products in the past I was excited when I received a 7 day kit to try out from Doll White.  Home teeth whitening has become more and more popular over the years so it's always fun to see what what different brands have to offer and the results they give.

These Doll White strips come in 7 individual sachets, one for each day of the week.  They all contain one upper strip for your top row of teeth and a lower strip for your bottom row.  They peel off well and are easy to mold around each tooth making it 10x easier for those with uneven teeth.  After 30 minutes you can remove both strips and viola, you are finished.

As I was wearing the whitening strips I didn't feel any discomfort nor did they make my teeth feel sensitive and I was able to sit and talk to my family until the 30 minutes was up!  The taste of the strips were nice and minty, just as it states on the box, and left my mouth feeling and smelling refreshed and clean.  I did need to brush some of the gel residue off but it wasn't a major issue and just proved that the strips were securely on my teeth and doing their job.  Doll White also ensured that this product didn't contain any peroxide which is a huge positive as it keeps your teeth and gums healthy and undamaged!

The results from this product has been noticeable and there has been a positive change in colour from my natural previous tooth shade.  Doll White offer 14, 28, 42 and 56 day packs on their website.  The 14 day pack retails at the price of £18.99 so it is affordable and saves you from spending money on cosmetic dental fees and other expensive whitening gels.

Do let me know if you've tried Doll White or any other teeth whitening brands.

The New Year Tag!

Happy New Year!!!!

Wow. It is officially 2016. It's crazy how time flies, this year has just been and gone in a flash.

Recently, I've seen The New Year Tag floating around on some blogs and because I liked the questions asked I decided to give it a go myself!

.What is one of your favourite moments from last year?
I've been sat thinking about this question for a while now and I honestly can't choose one moment to share with you all because there have been so many great ones. This year the majority of my favourite moments have been shared with my friends whether it be coffee dates, shopping trips, train journeys, going to the seaside in summer, attempting a game of bowling and just having fun at school between classes. We've created some amazing memories together and I hope we continue to do so in 2016!

.What was one New Year's resolution you accomplished?
Looking back at my 2014 resolutions post I would say I've accomplished a mere few but am still trying to work on some. I have started to improve my grades at school and went from an embarrassing U grade to an A* in my textiles class which me, and my parents, were more than happy about! I think after 10+ years in education I've finally come to realise that I need to take school more seriously.

.Three words to describe last year?
Challenging, Crazy, Exciting

.Favourite song from last year?
Jet Black Heart - 5 Seconds of Summer.

.Something you are looking forward to this coming year?
I'm looking forward to becoming more confident in myself. I say this every year but this year I'm really going to work on my self confidence and not worry about what people think of me.

.What did last year teach you?
2015 taught me who my real friends are. #glamsquad;)

.What was your most worn clothing item of last year?
I love love love my black collared shirt. I wear it under jumpers, t-shirts and on its own. The collar adds a bit more of my personal style to any outfit. I love it.

.If you had to sum up your year in one word what would it be?

.What are you hoping more for of this coming year?
I'm hoping for more great memories. There's nothing better than thinking about previous years and remembering fun little moments you had.

.What are you hoping for less of this year?
I'm hoping to spend less time overthinking things and thinking negatively.

.What is your upcoming resolution for the New Year?
Blogging. Along with school work I'm really going to put more effort into this blog, it's something I enjoy doing and all through 2015 I walked around thinking of new blog post ideas but never actually wrote them.

What are your plans for 2016?

I hope you all had a great New Years Eve!

Keep smiling:)

10 Christmas Gifts Under £20 for Her | Blogmas

I love buying Christmas presents, however as we all sadly don't have millions sitting in the bank we have to limit our budgets especially if we're buying for more than one person.  Even if the budget is low you can still find a great bargain that can act as a lovely Christmas gift.  I've put together ten gifts under £20 that most females will like, hopefully this will help you if you are planning to do some gift shopping this weekend.

What would you like to receive for Christmas this year?

My Winter Fashion Wishlist | Blogmas

It's now winter and that means officially ditching the summer tops and replacing them with thick jumpers layered with coats, scarves and other cosy accessories. A small (possibly strange) fact about me is that I love the cold weather, layering my clothes and wearing scarves everyday is something I look forward to each year, well that and Christmas!

Earlier this week I was walking around my local shopping center and saw all the new winter arrivals and practically went around claiming all the things I liked the look of. Here are some clothing items that will definitely be apart of my wishlist for the next few months:

Topshop Slim Pocket Coat
Christmas Jumper
Leather Look Gloves
Block Heeled Boots
Slouch Jumper
Fluffy Socks
Wool Hat
Long Sleeve Swing Dress

What's on your fashion wishlist?

Christmas Time Favourites | Blogmas

Happy December 1st! 31 days until 2016, how crazy is that?!

So right now I am writing this whilst lying in bed ill surrounded by tissue boxes and blankets, however after a long mid afternoon nap I decided that I wouldn't end the day without posting my first blogmas post which, despite past efforts, I am aiming to complete this year!

I thought I'd start it of simple and list ten of my Christmas time favourites including different family traditions, food and obviously some beauty related things!

Decorations - I'm going to hold my hands up and truthfully admit that I decorated my room for Christmas at the end of September, mainly because the shops had begun to decorate too and I was jealous.  I just couldn't help myself!  As a family, we usually decorate our whole house during the first week of December so I cannot wait to get the main tree up and start adding presents beneath it!

Christmas Music - I love Christmas music but throughout the past couple of months I've restrained myself from listening to them.  Although, a couple of days ago I finally allowed myself to turn on my annual Christmas playlist and jam out to it.  Ah, good times!

Treeselets - each year the amount of these I consume is definitely an unhealthy amount, but that doesn't stop me from scoffing them down!  For those of you who don't know, Treeselets are small, cheesy snacks that are in the shape of Christmas trees - they're super cute!  I could eat them for days #noregrets.

Christmas films - if you read my previous 'autumn favourites' blog post you may know that I recently watched, and loved, Christmas with the Kranks. After watching that film I was in the ultimate festive mood and have been watching different ones most nights, the most recent being The Santa Clause which is an all time classic for me and a film I grew up watching all the time.

Tanya Burr Advent Calendar - my lovely mum treated me to this advent calendar and when I woke up this morning I was so excited to open the first door.  It is such a great idea from Tanya and as one of my favourite YouTubers I am really happy to be trying out more of her products!  I can't wait to see what I get tomorrow!

Christmas morning - this is by far my favourite morning of the year.  I love sitting down and watching people receiving and opening their presents with the soft tune of Christmas songs in the background.  Also the smell of Christmas dinner cooking *drifts of into a Christmas trance* ..

Darker nights - I love leaving school at the end of the day and walking home as the sun sets, I find it so relaxing and peaceful.  Sometimes I arrive home and the fire place is lit resulting with me sitting in front of it whilst watching television.  Throw in a hot chocolate and it's the total winter package!

Christmas Eve - in our household the Christmas Eve routine consists of candles, food, The Polar Express on repeat and a countdown to midnight.  Also some music and occasional last minute present wrapping.  The atmosphere is wonderful.

Late night shopping - I love Christmas shopping, but when I have the opportunity to shop in the dark underneath all the Christmas lights it just makes it 10 times better! I've mentioned festive music many times in this post but don't you just love it when the shops play the famous tunes?  I can't wait!

Christmas lights - every year on the run up to Christmas me and my family go on a walk around our village to look at all the different Christmas lights on the houses.  We also love going on long drives to look at them as there is this one road nearby that goes absolutely crazy!

What are your Christmas time favourites?

Keep smiling:)

Fall Favourites TAG!

1. Favourite Fall Candle

Right now I am burning the Febreze Scented Candle in Apple and Spice which I found whilst shopping with my mum (who by the way hated the scent). It is a smell that reminds me of Christmas day and is my ideal, relaxing bedroom scent. Sadly the packaging isn't that exciting as it comes in a simple, transparent plain glass but it is definitely one of my favourites this fall!

2. Favourite Lip Color

Last year I was all about the vampy purples and deep reds but this year I am liking the nude shades. My current fall favourite is the Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint in Nothing But Nude, it is a redish nude which has unique packaging due to the 'felt tip' like pen on one end and the transparent balm on the other! I like to pair this with the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Light Year due to the similarities the two shades share and the great look they both give when combined with one-another!

3. Favourite Drink

Most people would use this opportunity to rave about the Pumpkin Spice Latte but quite frankly... I don't like it *gasps*. Instead my favourite fall drink is the classic latte which my dad has gotten me obsessed with, however I do like a good ole' cuppa every once in a while.

4. Favourite Blush

If you've been reading my blog for a while you may know that I was not a blush person, though times have now changed and lately I haven't been able to leave the house without applying a hint of colour to the apples of my cheeks. My favourite go-to blush at the moment is by Sleek in the shade 'coral' thanks to the natural, matte effect it gives and the lovely way it pairs with my skin tone.

5. Favourite Clothing Item

Skater skirts are an item of clothing I have been loving recently. In the colder months I have been enjoying pairing them with tights and jumpers for a cosy look and throwing on a leather jacket or parka coat over the top for extra warmth and protection from the chilly autumn breeze.

6. Favourite Fall Movie

As soon as autumn/fall starts I always like to bring out the Christmas films and watch them whilst covered in blankets with a hot drink in my hands. Some of my favourites are Elf (obviously) and The Greatest Store in the World, oh and I recently watched Christmas with the Kranks for the first time ever and it had me in stitches from laughter - you've gotta love Tim Allen;)

7. Favourite Fall TV Show

Something I do love watching during the colder months is Friends. I'm not sure why but I always seem to watch it now and during the upcoming months rather than the warmer seasons, maybe it's because I stay inside more because I am too afraid to face the cold weather? Who knows, haha.

8. Favourite Thanksgiving Food

I live in England where we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, although I suspect the typical thanksgiving meal is similar to a Sunday roast? If that is the case my favourite part of the meal is the Yorkshire puddings, I could eat those for days!

9. Favourite Halloween Costume

I'm going to be a typical teenager here and say a cat or mouse, mainly because every year I leave my costume until the last minute and have to create something in a short space of time and to save myself from stress I usually just go as one of the two. This year, if I had the ability, I would have gone as a sugar skull but I didn't have much time and once again went as a cat... Yay for originality!

I tag everyone reading to do this tag, whether you are a blogger or youtuber I would love to see your answers, be sure to send me the links via twitter, instagram (both @abbeywilko) or in the comments below!

The questions:
1. Favourite Fall Candle

2. Favourite Lip Color
3. Favourite Drink
4. Favourite Blush
5. Favourite Clothing Item
6. Favourite Fall Movie
7. Favourite Fall TV Show
8. Favourite Thanksgiving Food
9. Favourite Halloween Costume

Thanks for reading!

Keep smiling:)

Maybelline Brow Drama in Transparent | Review

www.absie.co.uk | Maybelline Brow Drama in Transparent | Review
www.absie.co.uk | Maybelline Brow Drama in Transparent | Review
www.absie.co.uk | Maybelline Brow Drama in Transparent | Review

I enjoy filling in my brows, it is a simple step that really brings together any makeup look. The range of products you can use are endless, but it was only recently where I heard about the Brow Drama collection by Maybelline. This came along at a good time as I was on the hunt for a product that I could use to keep my eyebrows in place and 'tame' throughout the day however I wasn't prepared to spend a high amount of money on it.

The Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara is £4.99 and available in the vast majority of stores with a Maybelline counter. This product is said to comb through every hair for a natural, streak-free finish that will last all day and won't clump or flake. Now, that is a big promise for a cheap and small product so the question is; do I agree with the product description? The answer would be a 50/50 response.

The product itself is a great value for money and a more reasonable priced version of the Benefit Gimme Brow which has a retail price of £18.50 however as this isn't a comparison post, today will not be the day I go into detail about which one is better. Another positive about this product is that it does look very natural on the brow and doesn't take off any of the brow product applied beforehand. Now onto the negatives, Maybelline claimed this sculpting mascara to be long lasting and a great product to use if you want to keep your brow hairs in shape all day, I disagree with this as in 3 hours top the product has already worn off on my brows. I have also had problems in the past with it flaking towards the end of the day which was not a good look, however this has only happened on two minor occasions and after using this product everyday for 4 whole months they are the only few problems I have had with it.

Overall I would say this product is one to have in your makeup collection. It is just a case of trial and error as to whether you get it to look right. I still use it on a day-to-day basis.

You can buy it here.

Keep smiling :)
